About the Artist

Iris Vance

Iris Vance paints in bold, flat fields of color built up from loose gestural underpainting — work that reads as graphic from across a room and as considered brushwork up close.

A self-taught colorist with a decade in commercial design before turning to canvas full time, she treats each painting as its own two-color problem before letting the rest of the palette in.

Her work has shown in group exhibitions across the Pacific Northwest and hangs in private collections nationwide. A limited number of commissions are accepted each year.
