Paintings shown one at a time, each revealed the way it was made — in a single, confident stroke.
Priya Nakamura paints in large, deliberate gestures, often committing a piece's defining stroke in the first few minutes and spending the following weeks answering it. She works primarily in acrylic, drawn to color relationships that read as landscape without describing one literally.
She shows in a small number of regional galleries and accepts a limited number of commissions each year.
